I finally got this piece finished a few weeks ago, and finally got the post up here on ze blog. Yes, procrastination is my strong point.
Anywho, I’ve been wanting to get this piece up in my bathroom for a while now. It’s a broken pencil pointing to the toilet that says “No. 2 Happens” on it. The piece is about 36″ x 36″ acrylic on wood. Here is the original sketch, it was eventually tweaked a bit, so the composition would work a bit better with my bathroom layout:
Anywho, that’s what I was working on a few weeks ago. Now on to those damn Walking Dead posters.
There has been what some would consider an epidemic of stink bugs in Pittsburgh this year. Everyone seems to hate them with an unholy passion, although they are harmless, and actually pretty chill bugs. I got this one to sit for me for about 20 minutes so I could draw him. Thanks buddy.
Anywho, I am a fan of stink bugs. Much better than the tent worm outbreak we had in the 90′s.
I was doing some Sherlock Holmes reading yesterday, and I stumbled on the rumor that Arthur Conan Doyle’s master criminal, Professor Moriarty, was based on a real life man by the name of Adam Worth. I did a bit of research (Wikipedia) and discovered that not only was this dude real, but he was a huge bad ass. Check out the article here for the full read, but basically this guy covered the full gamut of criminality, from pickpocketing to eventually creating a master criminal ring in London, and escaping from Sing Sing on a tugboat! He was eventually nicknamed “the Napoleon of the criminal world.”
Anywho, I felt like drawing last night, so I threw a quick sketch of him together, and colored it in PS. Took about an hour, minus the time up and down the stairs to grab a few beers.
I found some old family photos the other day, and felt the urge to get some of them down on paper. Yes, the kid in the lower left with glasses that could see Jupiter is me with my bro. The top pic is my mother (left) and grandmother. And last is my grandfather. Some of these may find their way into some finished pieces of mine, we’ll see…
